Outreach and awareness in the communities we serve
Addiction does not begin in a rehabilitation clinic. It begins in homes, schools, workplaces and communities where the warning signs go unrecognised and where help feels out of reach. That is why the work of Tranquility Clinic extends far beyond our facility in Glenferness, Midrand. Across Gauteng and further afield, our team runs substance abuse awareness campaigns, community education talks, school and youth programmes, and workplace interventions, reaching thousands of people who may never walk through our doors. We speak openly about drugs and alcohol in the places where the conversation is hardest to have. We help parents recognise the signs of drug abuse in teenagers, we equip employers to support struggling staff, and we make sure that every person we reach knows that recovery is possible and that help is available. This is not marketing. It is prevention, and it is part of who we are.
What our outreach looks like
01
Community awareness campaigns
- We host public awareness events in community halls, sports grounds and open venues, bringing substance abuse education directly to the people who need it most. These gatherings create a safe space for honest conversation about addiction, its warning signs, and the treatment options available.
02
School and youth programmes
- Early intervention changes outcomes. Our team engages learners, educators and parents on the realities of substance use among young people, covering the substances most prevalent in South African schools and how to recognise when a child is at risk.
03
Workplace and industry talks
- Substance abuse costs employers in absenteeism, safety incidents and lost productivity, and it costs employees far more. We run tailored sessions for companies and industrial teams on recognising impairment, supporting affected colleagues, and accessing treatment without fear of losing their livelihood.
04
Partnerships and collaborative events
- We work alongside government departments, local authorities, community organisations and faith groups to extend the reach and impact of our awareness work.
05
Community support initiatives
- Recovery is harder on an empty stomach. Alongside our education work, our outreach team supports communities with practical assistance at the events we host.
